Bakhtiar - The National Hip Hop Champion.

I bet you are asking me….”You sure or not?!”. Well I am afraid it is true. The government comes up with ridiculous titles for their programs and give a somewhat false impression. However whack the title may sound it is pretty alright. I was sceptical until I got confirmation on this kid’s ability.

Bakhtiar - Juara Hip Hop Kebangsaan

So his name is Bakhtiar and he is 12 years old. From what I have heard (I have not seen him perform) from my trusted sources this kid blow the competition to dust. Even the seniors in the competition lost to this kid. Well actually lost at what? Ok, although the title is ambiguous but his talent is very specific. Hip Hop Dance…fullstop. So the National Hip Hop competition is a Dance Competition organized by Rakan Muda.

No rapping, no deejaying, no frestyle….just B-Boys and B-Girls flexing their tendons. He is featured in Karangkraf’s publication E-Baca. From eyewitnesses and the peeps he defeated it sounds like he is the shiiieettt~ I have to trust what my sources say for now that is until I see him perform at Unity Concert this Friday.

Doul’s “Doul Da Dawn”

The squeaky chef MC leaves a funny aftertaste. I can’t say for sure if it is good or not. The production is alright and the features is OK. There is a track done by DJ Uno, one with James (Jimbo) Baum that celebrates Petaling Jaya and the most famous track of his that features Adibah Noor.

How does the whole album sound? It sounds pretty safe…. does not break new grounds and definitely no club bangers or something you can really krump or jump around to. More of the sort that you listen to on a bright weekend morning on the way to get your nasi lemak and newspaper. Which is not a bad thing. It is certainly an acquired taste.

Personally I love “Menanti”. His Malay raps combined with the voice somehow just clicks. Will appeal to Era and X-Fresh listeners definitely. Pee Jay, Pee Jay (feat James Baum) sounds chingy-ish especially the chorus. James sounds good as always. Decent effort from Doul….. I hope his future plans involves many more producers. I do think that he has not shown his full potential and he definitely can cook better than this.

C’mon Doul…..surprise my taste buds in your next one!
